Charlene Mires
Charlene Mires is Director of the Mid-Atlantic Regional Center for the Humanities (MARCH) and Associate Professor of History at Rutgers-Camden. She is editor-in-chief of The Encyclopedia of Greater Philadelphia and the author of two books: Capital of the World: The Race to Host the United Nations (NYU Press, 2013) and Independence Hall in American Memory (University of Pennsylvania Press, 2002; paperback edition 2013).
She earned her Ph.D. in history at Temple University and Master of Liberal Arts degree at the University of Pennsylvania. She previously was a member of the faculty at Villanova University and an editor at The Philadelphia Inquirer. She was a co-winner of the Pulitzer Prize in journalism as a member of the staff of the Fort Wayne (IN) News-Sentinel.
