Welcome to Woodford Mansion, a stunning piece of Philadelphia history—and a neighborhood treasure.  

 We invite you to discover Woodford, built 1756-1758 for William Coleman, a Philadelphia merchant, judge, and close friend of Benjamin Franklin. This elegant country home, located in East Fairmount Park, is one of the few remaining examples of the early “summer retreats” that were built along the Schuylkill River during the 1700s and 1800s by affluent colonial Americans. 

Today, Woodford, a National Historic Landmark, is owned by the City of Philadelphia and operated by The Naomi Wood Trust as a historic house museum. The interior of the house is furnished with 17th-, 18th- and early 19th-century decorative and fine arts acquired by the collector Naomi Wood and the Trust established in her name, including one of the finest collections of 18th-century Philadelphia-made furniture to be found anywhere.
